All the answers to your unique business lifestage questions

I often meet with Futurists and Trend Analysts to engage on the future of the economy and business. As much as they study the future, to predict it in these ever-changing times is difficult – if not impossible.

All the models and scenarios with high and low road strategies can only guess where we will be in 12 months from now. But there are a few pointers that we can rely on and maybe bet the future of our businesses on.

Here are some of my suggestions:

Pay more attention to digital

The 4th Industrial Revolution is here, happening and affecting us all. We can become an observer to the changes and hope to become a part of it and benefit from developments, or we can become the change and a leader in the process.

Innovation, Fin Tech, Artificial Intelligence and big data are all things we need to learn about and become knowledgeable with in order to get a foot in the door.

Pay more attention to people

“The future is more human than we think” I have heard this said a number of times from different people at different times. We need to begin to relook at how we interact with our clients, suppliers and staff.

Our processes need to become retro-human focused and not treat people as part of a mass mailing list or by account number. The businesses that succeed in 2018 and beyond will be those that know the names and information about the people they deal with and can engage with them at that level.

Things will move faster and smarter. Our manual processes of yesterday will no longer be capable of handling the speed required by the fast-paced systems. We need to be smarter, faster and better than yesterday. Artificial Intelligence needs to comes into play with mass data crunching.

2018 awaits us all and will not wait or slow down for us to catch up. If you are not on the bus at a sprint already then you may just be left behind. Develop a strategy for the year. Work this into a focused goal-action plan and push both yourself and the business to new heights this year. It is going to be a fun ride.
