Opening a Business Account:

Documentary requirements and general information

Foreign companies
  • Bank forms (Company, individual client, signature form, cheque convention and foreign currency)
  • Letter signed by the representatives requesting to open the account, mentioning currency, signatories and conditions of activity
  • Identification document of the account signatories (ID for Mozambican nationals, DIRE or diplomatic passport (for foreign residents), passport (for non-residents) – notarised copies
  • Board resolution appointing members of the Board that represent the company, and granting powers to the signatories of the account
  • Proxy for appointment of the legal representative in Mozambique
  • Articles of association or certificate of incorporation or certificate of registration in the country of origin
  • Certified copy of updated certificate of registration (validity within 3 months from the date of certification)
  • Certified copy of the branch license to operate in Mozambique (valid within 3 years or more)
  • Shareholding structure (organisation chart)
  • Articles of association or certificate of incorporation and certificate of registration of all shareholders that hold more than 20% of the share capital, and shareholders of such shareholders that hold more than 20% of the share capital. – If individual capacity, copy of passport with proof of address
  • Tax number evidence of the company and of account signatories
  • Evidence of address of the account signatories:
    • If resident – letter of the Administrative Authorities or home contact
    • If non-resident – proof of physical address; original or notarised copy of a utility bill, electricity or water, or other document evidencing the residential address
Note: If the original document is issued abroad, must be duly legalised by a commissioner of oaths, confirmed by Mozambican Embassy or Consulate in the country of origin and translated to Portuguese by a sworn translator.
